Finding Jobs with Google Ads: Alec Brownstein

There was a bit of a media flurry recently both mainstream and new media about how a creative candidate searched for a Job by using Google Adwords.

Alec Brownstein, who is now senior copywriter at Young & Rubicam (Y&R) New York wanted to work with any of 5 different Creative directors in some top Creative agencies. He googled their names and realized there was no sponsored links related to these names and decided to buy Google Adwords for those names / phrases  – total cost was $6.

Social Recruiting at CitySearch with Facebook Ads

Today, Techcrunch ran a piece on how Citysearch is using Facebook Ads for Social Media Recruiting. With Facebook’s very large audience and social activity, it is seemingly becoming the largest database of potential candidates for Hiring managers.

Erick Schonfield, Co-Editor at Techcrunch pointed out that Citysearch CEO Jay Herratti explained to him a very simple but effective way they are using Facebook ads to hire people.

Twitter Business Center: Social Recruiting Tool?

Twitter recently launched a service called Twitter Business Center. According to Mashable, Twitter Business Center will give companies the ability to accept direct messages from any of their followers, regardless of whether they follow that person or not.

This will be especially important for businesses that perform customer service via Twitter as they can get feedback and deal with private customer issues without having to follow the person back.
