#SMiB Social Media in Business Conference

Social Media at BBC: Staff Take Courses about Facebook

BBC recently announced slashing some of its operations, amidst pressures from him and them.

It has emerged today that it is sending thousands of its employees on a Social Media course related to Facebook and Twitter. The course is called Making the Web Work for You, and cost £100 per time. The BBC is getting ahead of its game on Social Media, after it hired a Social Media Manager.

BBC Recruits First Social Media Manager

The BBC is on a hiring spree for Social Media talent. Did I just say ‘Talent’? Yeah, right.

Anyway, they have appointed Chris Jones, as Social Media Manager. Chris will be tasked with ensuring the BBC uses social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook to spread the word about its shows, and to engage the potential audience.

They have previously hired Alex Gubbay as Social Media Editor, who is charged with the editorial development of user-generated content and social media initiatives within the BBC Newsroom.
