One of the key areas around defining a Social Media Recruiting Strategy is the ability to determine where the right audience is. You might want to consider issues like: who are your candidates and where are they? Knowing who your candidates are is probably the easier part.

They may be categorized by the skills they possess and experience in that domain. For some Gen Y roles, this may also be segmented into what Universities they attend, academic backgrounds, where they live, grades and experiences while studying.

Social Recruiting Tool: TwitJobSearch Adds Skype

Last week, I had a quick convo with Sam at TwitJobSearch where he showed an innovative tool that has been added to their Twitter Job Search Engine.

Today, the word has gone out on how Job seekers can apply for jobs on Twitter and also add a ’skype me’ option, so Recruiters can immediately see the job application and speak to the candidate quickly – in around 30 seconds. All you need is one click, with little effort.

Social Recruiting: Don’t Waste a Crisis – #Recruitcamp

Recruitcamp – an unconference around recruiting, social media and new technologies, was held last week in the US.

One of the presentations was by Laurie Ruettimann who has uploaded the slide, entitled – Social Recruiting: Don’t waste a crisis.

I quite like how she started it by stating the facts and where we are right now. The intro demonstrates the need to sit back and look at how the recruiting processes has been, against the backdrop of the recession as well as what is it an organization really want to achieve in relation to hiring.

Social Media in Recruitment Conference #SMIR – Case Studies Review

Social Recruiting is growing gradually. In the modest form of it, several Hiring Managers have devised ways to source for candidates from notable sites like LinkedIn and post jobs direct to Twitter.

That is encouraging, but the fullest scale of the Social Recruiting Strategy is yet to be harnessed. One of the reasons being that many employers are yet to comprehend the concept nor understand the value.

In clear and simple terms, Social Recruiting involves the use of Social Media and Social Networks to identify, attract, engage with and hire talent, while also maintaining a creating community, which connects Employers with the audience, promoting the company brand and reputation.
